3 days in Florence: what should i visit?

Florence with his oltrarno

Experience the best of Florence in just three days

Florence has so much to see that it is nearly impossible to visit all the places in 72 hours.
But if that is the only time you have, then do not worry, because Florence still has a lot to offer and you can be assured that you will have an incredible 72 hours, where you will only be seeing new and fascinating things.

This itinerary of the things you can see in 3 days in Florence includes more of outdoor spaces, like museums and churches.

It is arranged in a day-wise fashion, but feel free to go in whatever order you like.

Purchasing a Firenze card is also very helpful and can be used in most of the museums throughout Florence.

Day-1 – Piazza Della Signoria

This is the best place in Florence to start your trip. Start by visiting the museum of Palazzo Vecchio and the church of Orsanmichele, both of which have free entry. Then you can head towards Piazza Del Duomo. You can also grab a gelato from the many amazing gelato joints there.

Once inside Piazza Del Duomo, head over to the cathedral and baptistery which is utterly beautiful. Entry to the cathedral is free while entry to the baptistery costs around 15 euros. Any pass bought in the Piazza is valid for 48 hours before it expires. It is worth the money.

The more energetic people can climb up the bell tower to the top which is essentially on top of the dome.

The Uffizi Gallery and the Arno River are the best places to visit in the afternoon. You can see the Ponte Vecchio. Go over as it is beautiful.
This will take up all your day. So have a nice dinner and get ready for day 2.

Day 2- San Marco Area.

At the San Marco area, you can visit the Accademia Gallery and gaze upon the towering and elegant work of Michelangelo as the David statue and much more.
The Opificio Delle Pietre Dure museum is a delightful surprise for first timers and a wave of nostalgia for the second timers.

You can then visit the Palazzo Riccardi and see the small chapels there which are originally decorated by Benozzo Gozzoli.

Then you can head towards piazza Lorenzo de' Medici and also see the Medici Chapels.
You can then visit the outdoor markets of San Lorenzo which is behind the Piazza.

After this, you can have dinner and enjoy Florence at night.

Day-3- Oltrano

This area is called Oltrano and is situated on the left side of the Arno River.
You can start your trip by visiting the Brancacci Chapel and enjoy their frescoes.
Then, you can head towards the Pitti Palace and from there head towards the Boboli gardens which are behind the palace.
You can’t visit them all in this limited time as there are a lot of them. It is refreshing to be in the gardens after enjoying indoor artwork for a long two days. You can then go back to the Pitti Palace and enjoy the other small museums and the Modern Art Gallery as well.
